Positively No Negativity Challenge
Day 11 of 84
I went to sleep last evening and woke up this morning with a prayer: “God please protect the people I love and help them to make good decisions. Please protect them even when they make not so good decisions.”
I do believe that God hears our prayers and answers them as well. I decided to let Him deal with certain things that were on my mind and then to get on with my day in a positive way.
I don’t think I was a truckload of awesomeness yesterday, but I’m working on it today. Usually when I have something on my mind, I dwell on it to the point of being catatonic. So I decided to let things be and not try to control situations that are out of my control.
But I can pray.
And when that is done I can fill my mind with other things. This verse from the Bible is one of my favourites, a reminder to always think the best; no, to choose to think the best.
The Message (MSG)
8-9 “Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.”
It’s easier to wipe out negativity when you’re thinking about things that are true, noble, compelling and gracious. Now I’m wondering about those ‘excellent harmonies’ that God is going to work me into.
Five positive things for which I am grateful today:
1. A rainy day to catch up on some reading and work around the house
2. Being able to return some merchandise to a shop that has a ‘no returns’ policy
3. A very thoughtful insurance agent who came to our house in the rain to deliver the pink slip for my new car.
4. A long chat with Mom
5. A cup of tea after supper, in the living room, with my hubby, by candlelight.
